Is Amazon Working On An iPad Competitor?

TechCrunch is reporting on a rumor that Amazon may be working on a new tablet device that would take on the iPad.

Here is more from the blog: “Okay, we know now that Amazon is on the verge of releasing an Android-based app store. But last week, before we knew that, we got an interesting tip that such a move was coming soon — this week, actually. And that tip came with a bonus attached — the tipster also heard that Amazon was going to be releasing an iPad competitor alongside the store.”

This comes as Amazon announced the release of the Kindle for the Web, a service that lets readers read a Kindle chapter for free online, and Kindle’s new app for the BlackBerry PlayBook.
