Kobo Releases $130 Touch Screen eReader

Canadian eReading firm Kobo has released a new touch screen eReader. For the new device Kobo has dropped the keyboard and made their black-and-white eInk screen touch enabled using Neonode’s zForce technology.

The Kobo Touch edition is available for presale today for $129.99 at Borders.com, as well as through Indigio, Best Buy Canada and Walmart Canada. Orders will ship in time for Father’s Day.

Kobo CEO Michael Serbinis said that the device would be available through more U.S. retailers after launch, which is good news since Borders is not long for this world.

Kobo has also dropped the price of its Wi-Fi eReader (which is keyboard-operated) to $99.
