Like Facebook Connect, Google+ Sign-In Now Available For Apps

In a move to make social connecting easier for Google users, Google has introduced Google+ Sign-In, which is essentially Facebook Connect for Google.

Developers can add the tool to their apps, to make it easy for a user to register without having to fill out a form. By signing in with Google+ Sign-In, an app user can sign in with their Google account and their profile for the third party app is created based on data in their Google profile.

Banjo, Flixster, OpenTable and USA Today are among apps already offering this login feature.

The login feature taps into Google’s selective sharing feature in Google+, an option that lets you create circles and share specific things with specific groups, and keep specific things private. Here is more from Google’s blog: “Sometimes you want to share something with the world (like a high score), but other times you want to keep things to yourself (like fitness goals). With Google+ Sign-In and circles you decide who to share with, if at all.”
