The professional social networking site LinkedIn has launched an iPad app. The app, which is designed for the iPad’s retina display, is designed to be the first place for professionals to check in during the day to read news and see what is going on with their industry.

The LinkedIn blog has more: ” Imagine having one place where you can get all the info you need about who you’re meeting with that day, trending and timely news that is impacting your industry, who’s changed jobs and what your coworkers are sharing, liking, and commenting on. We’ve pulled all this for you, all in one place.”

It comes with tons of cool features. One cool feature is the ability to sync your iPad’s calendar so that when you have a meeting coming up with someone, their LinkedIn data will show up on your calendar, a great way to get the full background on who you’ll be meeting with.

Social Times has more: “The layout is similar to something like Flipboard, where stories are laid in a newspaper-type fashion, and you flip pages to see more stories.  The quality of the stories LinkedIn showed were quite high, having picked popular stories from within my network.  The interface has a lot of white space and the whole thing feels top notch.”
