The New York Times has a solution for newspaper purists. The media company released a web-based app optimized for tablet and desktop browsing that will display its daily paper exactly how it is printed, including story placement and photos, section by section, online.
The Times said the responsive app was built on HTML 5 for “readers who value the regular schedule, structured composition and totality of the daily print edition.”

The app allows for easy assessment of the editors’ daily priorities for those who still talk about “above the fold” (looking at you PR and journos). But it’ll also appeal to those who read the Times every day and like diving into a certain section or page before another. “Dining & Wine” anyone?
The app replaces a year-old beta app: The Times Web App for iPads. It is only available to those with a New York Times subscription — digital or print.
