NY State Senator Charles Schumer Challenges iPhone 4

NY State Senator Charles Schumer is taking on the iPhone 4′s antenna issues. The democrat issued an open letter to Steve Jobs regarding consumer complaints about the new phone, saying that Apple hasn’t done enough to fix the problem, though the company has declined to comment on this.

Schumer said that the glitches from the new phone is outweighing the innovation. In the letter, he wrote, “To address this concern, I ask that Apple provide iPhone 4 customers with a clearly written explanation of the cause of the reception problem and make a public commitment to remedy it free-of-charge. The solutions offered to date by Apple for dealing with the so-called ‘death grip’ malfunction -such as holding the device differently, or buying a cover for it- seem to be insufficient.”

Apple is holding a press conference tomorrow to address the issue. Insiders from the company said that Apple was aware of the issues during development.
