Open Road Launches William Styron Enhanced eBooks

Today is a big day for enhanced eBooks, as three different publishers have announced new rich media titles. Simon & Schuster announced its first enhanced eBook version of Rick Perlstein‘s 2008 book Nixonland. Hyperion announced an enhanced eBook for the ABC Family TV show The Secret Life of the American Teenager. And now Open Road Integrated Media is adding enhanced content to two William Styron books in the iBookstore.

William Styron’s The Long March and Lie Down in Darkness are Open Road’s first books to include this content. Open Road’s Digital Entertainment Division created original videos about the author. The content includes Alexandra Styron reading a letter to her father from Norman Mailer in which he compares The Long March to Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness.

The books also include new digital covers and an illustrated biography filled with memorabilia from the author’s life courtesy of Duke University archives.
