Playboy is exercising a bit of restraint in its latest iPhone app. The app does not include any photos of nude women and instead focuses on lifestyle content. It’s a smart move considering that Apple has been known to censor material from that contains nudity.
The Playboy app features stories on travel, clothes, food, cars, drinks and women, as well as interviews, recipes and fiction. It also has photos and videos. The current issue features an interview with Lena Dunham, creator and star of Girls, as well as a video of Kylie Johnson, Playboy’s Miss February 2011.
“We’re taking everything that has made Playboy great and re-imagining it for the iPhone, while reinventing our aesthetic with exclusive pictorials and a beautiful, image-heavy navigation. It truly is Playboy 2.0,” stated Josh Schollmeyer, Playboy’s director of digital content.
The landmark men’s magazine was early to make its content available for mobile devices and began offering a mobile optimized site back in 2007.
