The book is a collection of the Pulitzer Prize winning journalist’s love letters to his wife Carol. Here is an excerpt:

“Hello My Sweet Wonderful Wife,

It’s Friday evening and this is the first chance I’ve had to write. When I hung up the phone on Thursday morning, I fell into my bunk and slept for 22 straight hours. I arrived at work this morning feeling fit as a fiddle, all set to tear into my duties and missing you so badly it felt as if my heart would break.
