Scholastic has launched a new social networking site today called YouAreWhatYouRead.com.
The site lets readers build online profiles based on the five that have most shaped their lives. Users are encourages to create a “Bookprint,” the list of books that have influenced their live and share this “Bookprint” with others.
The site is not limited to books by Scholastic and includes books from any publisher. Publisher’s Weekly has more: “Scholastic books don’t appear to get special billing on YouAreWhatYouRead.com, and nearly every book in print from any publisher is available for users to catalog on their profiles. There is a strong celebrity angle to the site, with visible profiles for more than 130 well-known personalities ranging from Bill Gates to Whoopi Goldberg.”
