He’s trying to get people to sign up for the free online newsletter. He’s promised that for every 5,000 newsletter subscribers, he’ll lower the pre-order price of the Kindle edition of Poke the Box. Right now the price is $7.99, which is 2 bucks less than the starting price. (According to the little tracker on his site, he’s about to hit 15,000 subscribers so the price will soon go down to $6.99.)
He’s betting that a high enough percentage of the newsletter subscribers will decide to pre-order the ebook to make up for the discount. He’s also promised that if 45,000 people sign up for the newsletter, he’ll lower the pre-order price to $1.
So will this marketing idea work? Time will tell.
