Smithsonian’s National Zoo Launches App w\Live-Streaming Video

Still planning a trip to DC this summer? I have an app for you. The Smithsonian Institution released a new tour guide app last week, and it’s definitely one that every tourist needs.

The Official App of the Smithsonian’s National Zoological Park is your best source for mobile info on the National Zoo, and it includes everything from maps to tours, news, and daily activities. You can use the app to read detailed listings on the hundreds of animals at the zoo like the pandas, gorillas, lions, tigers, and flamingos. The app also includes guided tours, information, and tips.

But most importantly, the app also includes video streams of a number of the animals at the zoo. If you cannot get through the crowds at the more popular exhibits you could always fire up the app and watch them vicariously.

The app is $2 in iTunes. But if you don’t want to spend the money, you can find much of the same info on the zoo’s website. And that includes the streaming video.
