Steampunk Sherlock Holmes Book App

As a Victorian Era character, Sherlock Holmes seems right at home among steampunks. So it’s now wonder that interactive book maker Richard Monson-Haefel has created the eBook Steampunk Holmes: Legacy of the Nautilus, which claims to be “a mashup of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes stories and other classic 19th-century fiction set in a steampunk universe.”

With stolen submarines and the British Secret Service, the story is ripe with intrigue. It is currently available as an eBook, but Monson-Haefel plans to turn it into an interactive web app, iPad app and even an illustrated print book.

Monson-Haefel’s company Noble Beast hopes to raise $29,000 to create these editions, which involve an international group of artists, musicians and actors. Here is more from the project’s Kickstarter page: “Steampunk Holmes: Legacy of the Nautilus is multi-channel publishing project for the Web, eReaders (kindle, Sony, iBooks), audio players, tablets, and print. In other words, a complete editions of the books are going to be released on several different reading platforms so that everyone, no matter how they read, can enjoy the series.”
