<title>Why Apps Shouldn&#8217;t Be Able To Auto Post Tweets From Users</title>

But most don&#8217;t post questionable content on your behalf.</p>
<p>Which is why when tech journalist for Pocketables <strong><a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/Andreas-Odegard-profile.html">Andreas Odegard</a></strong> gave Twitter access to update his <a href="https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/oxford-deluxe-ode-ote-powered/id307233030?mt=8" target="_blank">Oxford Deluxe Dictionary app</a> (which is powered by the Japanese company Enfour), he wasn&#8217;t expecting the company to send a message from his Twitter account. Let alone a tweet that read, &#8220;How about we all stop using pirated iOS apps? I promise to stop. I really will. #softwarepirateconfession.&#8221;</p>
<p>Essentially the app&#8217;s update 4.1.4 which claims, &#8220;Update now! Very important,&#8221; &#8220;Crucial maintenance release,&#8221; seemed to be a way to use Twitter to stop users from bootlegging apps. This is a very bad idea. Not only are there legal issues regarding using a person&#8217;s Twitter, but Odegard actually paid for the $54.99 app. <a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/appnewser/why-apps-shouldnt-be-able-to-auto-post-tweets-from-users_b28615#more-28615" class="more-link">continued&#8230;</a></p>
