When SAGA #12, a comic book by Brian K. Vaughan, hit bookshelves this week, it was not released in the popular comiXology app. Vaughan complained about this on his publisher’s Tumblr page. He wrote:

Unfortunately, because of two postage stamp-sized images of gay sex, Apple is banning tomorrow’s SAGA #12 from being sold through any iOS apps. This is a drag, especially because our book has featured what I would consider much more graphic imagery in the past, but there you go. Fiona and I could always edit the images in question, but everything we put into the book is there to advance our story, not (just) to shock or titillate, so we’re not changing shit.

Vaughan encouraged readers to check out his book by purchasing the print version or by downloading it elsewhere.

David Steinberger, CEO/co-founder of comiXology responded to this and explained that Apple didn’t actually ban the content. comiXology decided not to publish it because they didn’t think Apple would let it through. He wrote: Read more
