Pinterest is Now on the Nook

Pinterest is now available in Barnes & Noble’s Nook app store. The app will come preloaded on Nook devices along with Twitter and Facebook apps. Existing owners can download the Pinterest app for free from the Nook Store.

“Pinterest has long been one of our most requested apps and we are thrilled to bring it to NOOK, along with the Twitter and Facebook for NOOK apps,” said Claudia Romanini, VP of Nook Apps at Nook Media, in a statement. “Our goal is to bring NOOK users the very best in social media and these apps will bring to life the rich sharing experiences that Pinterest, Facebook and Twitter offer.”

Nook has been expanding its app offerings over the past month. Last month, Barnes & Noble announced that developers will be able to add in-app purchase features to apps sold in the Nook app store beginning this month.

Barnes & Noble’s Nook Has Launched A Free App & Free eBook Program

Barnes & Noble’s Nook Media has introduced a new program to give away free apps and eBooks called Nook Free Fridays. Nook will announce the weekly giveaway on the company blog and through Facebook and Twitter.

Through the new weekly program, Nook will offer a paid app and a paid eBook for free on Friday only. Today’s free app is the OfficeSuite Professional 7 app, an app that normally costs $14.99 value. Today’s free eBook is Driftless by David Rhodes a novel about rural life in America. The book’s list price is $16.00.

ScrollMotion, Nook & Zinio Executives at Publishing App Expo

Nook apps program director Claudia Romanini,  Zinio global executive VP Jeanniey Mullen, ScrollMotion co-founder Josh Koppel have all joined the lineup for mediabistro.com’s Publishing App Expo on December 7th and 8th.

Scheduled for December 7th and 8th, the conference will feature four separate tracks so attendees can customize the most useful experience. The tracks include: an App Building track (a practical, hands-on tutorial about DIY apps), an App Strategy track (find designers, manage updates, analyze demographics, negotiate subscription and payment systems), a Magazine & News Apps track, and most importantly, a Book Apps track (pricing, social media, discoverability, monetization, and app alternatives).
