Ford Introduces Tool To Let Drivers Share Location

Have you ever wanted to give your friend directions to a meeting point while you are driving? It’s not a good idea to text while driving and Siri doesn’t always get it right.

Thankfully, the Ford Motor Company has introduced a new app that lets drivers share the location of their car while they are driving.

The tool is powered by a company called Glympse. Detroit Free Press has more about how it works: “To use Glympse, drivers must download the app onto their smartphone so the car will recognize it when the phone is connected to the vehicle by Bluetooth or USB. Drivers can press the Sync button on the steering wheel and say, ‘Send Glympse’ via e-mail, text or to Facebook and Twitter. The person who receives the Glympse can use their phone or computer to monitor the vehicle’s progress to know when the sender will reach their destination, at which point the tracking ends.”

Ford Launches iPad App For Dealers

Car maker Ford has built a new iPad app that is designed to help its car dealers show off car features to customers in showrooms.  The Showcase app gives Ford sales associates access to information on cars such as inventory and details about each product.

It includes videos of cars, as well as demos of various Ford features such as the Blind Spot Information System and Ford’s active parking assistant. Follow this link to see a video of a Ford dealer using the iPad app.

Michelle Moody, Cross Vehicle Marketing manager for Ford, explained the idea in this statement, ”Waiting for the sales consultant to check the inventory or wandering the aisles of a car lot in search of just the right combination of colors and options can be a tedious and time-consuming process. If the weather is bad or the sun has gone down early in the winter months, venturing outside is even less appealing.”
