Amazon Launches Kindle For The Web has launched the beta version of a new service called “Kindle for the Web.” The service lets customers sample Kindle books directly through their Web browser.

To use the service, customers can click “Read first chapter FREE” on a book’s product page and the first chapter will open within the web page. This could have something to do with Amazon’s new patent.

In addition, bloggers and website owners who are participants in the Amazon Associates Program can embed samples of Kindle books on their sites. These website owners will earn referral fees from Amazon when customers complete book purchases using the links on their websites. Bus Driver Caught Reading Kindle

More people are adopting eReaders these days, including bus drivers. In this video, a bus driver in Portland, OR is caught reading his Kindle while he is slowly driving through traffic.

While we love to see people reading on their Kindles, this has got to be as bad as texting and driving.

The Guardian UK has more: “The driver was filmed by a passenger seemingly reading while driving on the city’s I-5 road through rush hour. At one point he used his elbow to steer the bus while looking down at his Kindle, which was placed behind the wheel.”

The incident is being investigated and the driver is now on leave, possibly leaving him more time to catch up on his reading.
