In a move to make tablets more educational for kids, former Adobe executives Michael FitzpatrickFang Chang and Nigel Pegg have launched a new children’s book subscription service called Bookboard.

According to the company’s website, “Bookboard puts a limitless number of books within reach and makes it simple to find the right content for your child – no matter what they happen to be interested in this week.” So far this means access to about 300 books, but that number will go up as site expands. The service is currently available on iPads but it will be available for other tablets as it rolls out.

PaidContent.org has more about how the service will work: “Bookboard will be free during the public beta. The company plans a full commercial launch in the first quarter of 2013 and expects monthly subscriptions will cost between $5 and $10, with more premium content and add-ons available in the future.”
