Google Tablet Presale At Staples ‘Out of Stock’

Google’s new Nexus 7 tablet went on presale through Staples this week and it is already out of stock. The 16GB version of the tablet is listed on the retailer’s for $249.

The store says that orders placed by tomorrow will ship between July 12-17th, but if you add it to your cart, it says that that item is out of stock. Hopefully they replenish the availability soon.

The Android device is designed to consume content from Google Play. It has a 7-inch screen and claims to hold 8 hours of battery charge during “active use.”

Staples also sells the Kindle Fire, the Nook Tablet and the Samsung Galaxy II, all devices which compete with the new Google tablet.

$249 Mini iPad Coming Soon?

Just as Google is getting into tablet business and rumors of a new Kindle Fire are circulating, rumors that the iPad Mini will cost as little as $249 have hit.

Boy Genius Report has the rumor: “Apple’s upcoming tablet will feature a 7.85-inch IGZO LCD display manufactured by Sharp and it will be as thin as Apple’s iPad 2, which is marginally thinner than the current iPad model. The site also claims the iPad mini will cost between $249 and $299 when it launches, though it cites unnamed analysts in reporting that price range.”

Last week, Google released the Nexus 7, a $199 7-inch tablet computer that it is designed to consume digital media content like apps, music, books and movies from Google Play. We’ve heard rumors that Google is planning to launch a 10″ tablet and also rumors that two new Kindle Fires, a 7-inch version and a 10-inch version, are coming.
