AllThingsD broke the news:

Spotify isn’t announcing terms for the deal, but says that all of the Swedish company’s 20 or so employees will come to work at Spotify’s offices in Stockholm and New York. The Tunigo Spotify app will keep running (there’s also an iPhone app), but presumably Spotify’s new hires will be put to work on Spotify’s main service, which has 24 million users and six million paying subscribers. Tunigo had reportedly raised $3 million.

According to its website, “Tunigo is the place where you can find Spotify playlists for all of life’s occasions combined with the latest news and releases from the music industry.” Users must have a Spotify account to use the service. Music fans can use the app to create their own playlists and to discover playlists made by other people.

The tool is already available in more than a million cars in the U.S. and will roll out to cars in Europe later this year.

This coming update of SYNC AppLink will enable you to control Spotify songs and playlists using voice commands including: “shuffle”, “repeat”, “star/unstar track”, “choose playlist”, “play music”, “recently played”, and “now playing”.

Ford recently announced a partnership with Amazon making the Amazon Cloud Player available in Ford SYNC Applink-equipped vehicles. The interface lets users  access their Amazon Cloud Player music library by wirelessly connecting the Amazon MP3 app on their Android smartphone to the SYNC connectivity system in the car.

Using the Bandsintown Spotify app, you can explore tour dates for the bands that you are listening to on Spotify. Simply drag and drop a song from your playlist into the Spotify icon in your player and you can access show information.  The tool will also suggest concerts in your area that you might like, based on your listening preferences. The app is also integrated with Facebook and will make recommendations based on the bands that you have liked on Facebook.

To help you remember concerts that you would like to attend, the app lets you RSVP and keep track of them.
