How To Pitch: Happen
UPDATE: Happen is no longer accepting freelance pitches.
May 1, 2011
Frequency: Updated every Monday Special issues: None Background: Launched in February 2005, Happen -- an independent online editorial magazine for the Match.com community -- is designed to, well, make readers' love lives "happen." The magazine offers advice, support, and options about dating, love, and relationships with content that's available to everyone, not just Match.com members. With advice from experts, lessons learned from other singles, pop culture articles, and humor pieces, the magazine is designed to develop strategies for dating. "But, it's not just singles," says the editorial team at Match.com. "It's for couples, too, and those returning to the dating world." Since its inception, the site has undergone several editorial changes. The site has also begun producing articles that appeal to an older demographic written in a PG-13 voice. No longer does Happen produce weekly horoscopes, interviews with celebrities promoting their films or book excerpts from publishing houses. They've also ended their relationship with their resident sexologist and are focusing on less risque content that appeals equally to both men and women. Additionally, the articles are less focused on trends and topics that appeal only to residents of the New York City area.... ![]() The How to Pitch series is worth its weight in gold. In just the first month I'd already benefited enough to consider the cost of joining well worth it. -- Gaen MurphreeAvantGuild benefits give you access to:
