I was dismayed by a recent New York Times reporting that 65 to 75 percent of unsolicited op-eds at major newspapers across the country are submitted by men. According to the story women are, apparently, shy about submitting opinion pieces. In response, Catherine Orenstein, author, activist, occasional opinion contributor and now savvy entrepreneur, is offering op-ed training seminars for women who wish to express themselves on (news)paper. For $300 a pop, women working in academia, non-profits, and corporations learn how to tap into their area of expertise, then type out a formulaic op-ed piece based on the subject....
