Buyouts at NYT; Bloomberg Poaches BW Prez from Dow Jones
December 8, 2009
It's buyout time at
The New York Times, and the
list includes some big names. Four business writers, including two who've been around since the '80s,
are leaving, as well as multiple photo editors and editors on many levels. Still, the number of departures won't reach the 100 mark, meaning executive editor
Bill Keller will have to lay off some staffers. Rumors
are flying that most will come from the sports and Metro desks. The good news? Fortunes are
slowly improving as fourth quarter online ad revenue is expected to climb 10 percent, while print will decline a quarter....
The How to Pitch series is worth its weight in gold. In just the first month I'd already benefited enough to consider the cost of joining well worth it.
