NY1 wants general assignment and breaking news reporters who are able to cover a story at a moment's notice

Background: If you live in New York City, chances are, you know NY1. The 24-hour local TV news station offered on Time Warner Cable (and in Brooklyn and the Bronx on Cablevision, as well) is known for covering breaking news across all five boroughs of the city.

"Since we don't cover New Jersey or Connecticut, we can really drill down on hyper-local issues in the city," says Bernie Han, vice president of news for NY1. Politics is a "huge niche" for the station, Han says, and other beats include transit, health, education, food, theater and fashion. NY1 is also the only television station to have a unit devoted to news on Staten Island, says Han.

NY1 reporters don't come with an entourage of stylists and cameramen. This is a soup to nuts operation: Reporters shoot their own footage (this means carrying your own equipment), write their own scripts, and edit their own segments. ...
