Background: MIT Technology Review is "an interesting hybrid," said deputy editor Brian Bergstein. While the publication is owned by MIT, its editorial mission is independent from the institution. The magazine was founded in 1899 with an original mission that was much more central to MIT. It's a national publication -- MIT alums get it for free, but it's also available by subscription and on the newsstand. Today's MIT Technology Review focuses on how technology is changing our lives in terms of business, law, economy and society. "We write about ideas in technology; we're trying to explore the impact of emerging technologies on the world," said Bergstein.
