Background: This two-person agency began when principal agent Wendy Strothman ran Beacon Press for 12 years and followed that with heading up the trade and reference division of Houghton Mifflin for seven. After her company was sold, Strothman decided to form her own literary agency. Her partner, Lauren MacLeod joined years later after graduating from Emerson College's undergraduate publishing program and interning at Beacon Press' editorial department. It was there that MacLeod realized she loved working closely with authors and became Strothman's assistant. She has been working at the agency as a full-time literary agent ever since.
