Sidney Harman passed away and suddenly everyone wants to discuss the future of Newsweek. The elder businessman was a champion for the cause, but the magazine is losing money (and its last issue had only six ads). The question is whether Harman made provisions for the future of the book in his will. If not, his family may decide to pull the plug. Meanwhile, former Newsweek editor-in-chief Jon Meacham is now penning cover stories for Time, and Jonathan Alter moves to Bloomberg View...

The Associated Press snags former ABC News president David Westin as president and CEO of News Licensing Group, which will work with content and data from the AP and more than 1,000 digital publications. Elsewhere at the AP, union members say mass layoffs could start soon if the News Media Guild does not accept management proposals within the next few days... Pilar Guzman, the new editor-in-chief of Martha Stewart Living, recruits Yolanda Edwards as editor-at-large. The pair previously worked together at Cookie where Guzman was EIC and Edwards served as her travel and lifestyle editor...

ABC cancels One Life to Live and All My Children as part of its effort to move away from the struggling genre. Brian Frons, president of daytime, says "the strongest will survive" when it comes to soaps. All My Children -- which moved to Los Angeles in an effort to remain solvent -- will continue through September 2011, while One Life to Live will stay around until January 2012...

Does CNN want to give Soledad O'Brien another show? That's the rumor, as she shot a second pilot in the Piers Morgan Tonight studio that featured interviews with subjects including Donald Trump and Malcolm X's daughter... Bill Moyers will not be returning to PBS because the network cannot find a time slot for its long-serving host... Anderson Cooper, on the other hand, lands a home for his Anderson syndicated talk show...
