Conde Branches Out; More AdWeek Rumors

September 30, 2011
Condé Nast is about to land a big score. Dawn Ostroff is reportedly on her way to the publishing company where she'll help Condé ramp up its television and online video. It's a smart move for the glamorous magazine company as it looks to boost revenues in areas beyond the print products. Ostroff formerly served as the entertainment head of The CW network where she shepherded shows including Gossip Girl and America's Next Top Model into production. Expect to see more Condé-branded content online and on TV soon...

She will be a columnist for the recently launched parenting vertical. Belkin follows Tim O'Brien, Peter Goodman and Tom Zeller (and Arianna Huffington's AOL dollars, of course.)... Bethany McLean and Geraldine Febrikant join Reuters as columnists. The former gained national acclaim for her first book, The Smartest Guys In The Room, while the latter is a media reporter who will "put a human face on business," according to a release...

Rodale continues to lose staffers. The latest: ad sales prez Gregg Michaelson departs along with Karen Rinaldi, the executive VP and GM of Rodale Books. CEO Maria Rodale isn't worried, however, writing "I realize that this news, along with other recent announcements, makes it feel as though there are lots of changes going on at Rodale. There are... to an extent. But as a company committed to renewal and growth, change is an essential part of our company's heritage."... Hearst loses marketing genius Matthew Petersen. He joined in 2010 after being snagged from Meredith. Petersen's father, Raymond, spent 23 years at Hearst...

Larry Wert jumps up to EVP of station initiatives at NBC's O&Os... Neville Brody is the new vice president of D&AD... And there are changes at Harper's Bazaar, Spanfeller Media Group and more...
