Anchors Away At CNBC; Us Weekly Vet Departs

December 27, 2011
CNBC cannot hang on to its anchors. The New York Post reports that Europe chief Mike Buckley and London correspondent Guy Johnson are departing, following Melissa Francis, Erin Burnett and Trish Regan out the door. That trio left "after running headlong into the glass ceiling known as Maria Bartiromo, the longtime anchorwoman." Oh, burn. David Faber might be the next to leave, although CNBC's PR staff points out that names such as Seema Mody, Kayla Tausche, Andrew Ross Sorkin and Brian Sullivan joined in 2011. Expect more comings (and goings) in the near future...

US Weekly's photo director Brittain Stone leaves after 14 years of service. Deputy photo editor Jennifer Halper replaces him. Inside sources cite battles with editor Michael Steele as reason for Stone's departure. Executive editor Catherine Romano also recently left for Glamour... Portland's LGBT paper Just Out closes its doors after 28 years...

Dana Jacobson leaves ESPN's First Take, but she will remain within the Worldwide Leader's family... Jim Bankoff poaches yet another big name from AOL, drafting Joystiq editor-in-chief Chris Grant (and two of his staffers) to start a gaming site at Vox Media. If you want more, there's plenty of great info on Engadget managing editor Darren Murph's Tumblr about the moves and what it all means... And there are changes at The New York Times, Bloomberg TV and more...
