ESPN Fires Writer; Clinton Returning to NBC

ESPN fires one staffer and suspends another one for 30 days after two separate incidents involving New York Knicks star Jeremy Lin and a certain five-letter word. Max Bretos, the suspended anchor in question, apologized on his Twitter feed (and some are writing that the sentence is too harsh). Anthony Federico told the Daily News he had no intention of offending anyone and that he had used the phrase "at least 100 times" previously. (Perhaps someone should also look into the repetition of the site's headlines.)...

Stephen Colbert was not shut down by the FCC or any of the other crazy rumors flying around. He simply stopped production for two days to attend to his ailing mother. She is better now, thanks for asking. We now return to your regularly scheduled program... It looks as though Chelsea Clinton will be returning to NBC, despite what the New York Post reported last month...

Fun times on the West Coast. Pulitzer Prize-winning food critic Jonathan Gold seems to be heading to the Los Angeles Times, at least if a handshake is any indication. Or perhaps he wasn't, as LA Observed reported that the LA Weekly wants to keep him, offering money it previously could not find. (Funny how that happens.) Oh wait, now he's moving to the LAT. "We wish we could have kept him. Hell, we tried to keep him. But time marches on. He's been here since 1982, for God's sake," the LA Weekly writes...

Buzzfeed hires Katie Notopoulos as senior editor. She is "is an incredibly gifted finder of compelling, viral patterns and curator of online culture, which should really just be called 'culture' at this point," editor-in-chief Ben Smith wrote in an email... Source Interlink Media promotes Jim Adolph to group publisher for the street motorcycle titles and David Sonsky to publisher of the International Motorcycle Group... Mario Ruiz, who has toiled under Arianna Huffington for five years, departs to start his own agency. His first client: The Huffington Post... And there are changes at Forbes, Conde Nast, and more...
