Fox Outs Gawker Mole; Patch Chief Resigns

Joe Muto makes one of the best career moves ever: He was Gawker's Fox Mole. The eight-year employee, who most recently worked as an associate producer on The O'Reilly Factor, got fired less than 24 hours after revealing himself anonymously to the public. So, in the span of a day, Muto went from an unknown associate producer on a show he hated to a lefty hero (with a talent for writing). As long as Fox doesn't sue him into oblivion or worse (legal scholars, what recourse do they have?), he will be much better off than he was at the beginning of the week. He's also $5,000 richer and says he has a cleaner conscience...

Brian Farnham says goodbye as editor-in-chief of Patch. Rachel Fishman Fedderson, hired above Farnham by AOL in February, will take over sole editorial oversight of the property. The EIC's decision was "100 percent" his own, as Farnham longs for the startup atmosphere that Patch no longer was. It was a bumpy four years for the former Time Out New York EIC and his staff, but he leaves Patch in a much better place. Keep an eye on where it goes from here... Style.com/Print names Matt Rice advertising director. He stays on as executive director, international fashion, at WWD, WWD.com and Style.com...

The Weather Channel hires Curt Hecht as chief global revenue officer. The move comes three months after David Kenny took over as CEO. Both Hecht and Kenny worked at Vivaki, the media- and digital-agency division of Publicis Groupe... CNN gives Christiane Amanpour her own Monday afternoon show. Amanpour will be a 30-minute program looking at global issues. She remains as anchor at ABC News' Global Affairs... T.J. Holmes will host a late night comedic news show on BET... Conde Nast hires Jeremy Steckler and Michael Klein to turn the stories the magazine runs into film and television shows...

Khristopher Brooks will not be working at the News Journal in Wilmington, Del. The paper rescinded its job offer to the NYU grad after he posted to his blog a press release he wrote announcing his hire. But he received a number of job offers after the news went public... In other Gannett moves, USA Today snags Associated Press deputy sports editor Mary Byrne as managing editor of the Sports Media Group... And there are changes at NBC News, Cosmopolitan and more...
