Background: Fifteen-year-old Spirituality and Health is going through an age-appropriate growth spurt. With a new publisher and editor-in-chief at the helm, the adolescent mag is still the go-to source for the best reads on East-meets-West spirituality and body-meets-soul wellness. In the first issues produced by the dynamic new team, the mag's expanded coverage is apparent. "We continue to be committed to our mission of exploring the frontiers of spirituality and health, and we are now moving into environmental and humanitarian issues as well," explained new EIC Karen Bouris.
Filling a niche between religious and health-focused pubs, the bimonthly's target audience is primarily women over 35 who are deeply knowledgeable about healthy living and spiritual fulfillment. "In the same issue, we might have a progressive Catholic talking about women's rights, a mindfulness practice from a Zen Buddhist practitioner, and a Wiccan talking about earth-based spirituality -- or natural cures for insomnia, raw food for firing up your libido, and aloe for better digestion," explained Bouris. As such, the magazine is looking to partner with writers who know the ins and outs of wellness, fitness, religion and the environment....
