The "brilliant but polarizing SVP" was the man in charge of iOS and, at least to a certain extent, the entire direction of the company. He also led the Siri project and the Maps disaster, which hurt his standing within Apple. Jony Ive, Eddy Cue, and Craig Federighi will take over his duties. Elsewhere in Cupertino, John Browett says goodbye as head of retail, a job where he had been for just nine months. He replaced Ron Johnson, the dude who dreamed up the giant glass cubes that dot major metropolitan areas around the world.
