Happy New Year! 2012 was quite a year -- we survived an apocalypse, a superstorm and a presidential election. As you look back on other aspects of 2012, like your career, Recruiting Blogs wants to know which 2012 placement you're most proud of. This type of reflection allows you to not only bask in your glory but also figure out what you did right so you can keep on doing it.

Got it? Great. Now, let's move on to the present and the future. What are your goals for 2013? Workforce thinks you're better off with no goals at all. If you disagree, like I do, maybe one of your goals will have to do with social recruiting. Social HR could transform your company in 2013 and TLNT can tell you how.

Social networking has become a prime source for recruiters and HR folks in all industries, but there are some things that, if you're not careful enough, could cause some real problems. Luckily, HRE Online has some tips on how to avoid these pitfalls all together. 2013 is going to be a big year for HR and social media, so keep yourself up to date and stay on track to make this year even more successful than the last!

U.S. Adds 155,000 Jobs, Unemployment Unchanged (Bureau of Labor Statistics)
The U.S. economy added 155,000 jobs in December, leaving 12.2 million people still unemployed, the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced. The biggest gains came in health care, food service and construction.

What 2012 Placement Are You Most Proud of? (Recruiting Blogs)
As an external recruiter, your actions have "ripple effects that we don't always get to see," says recruiter Amy Ala, who successfully placed a skilled marketer whose two years of unemployment acted as a black mark on an otherwise great resume. What placement are you most proud of?

Goal for 2013: No Goals (Workforce)
Goals aren't bad in themselves, but their side effects may have a negative consequence on a business. Instead, try prioritizing important things but avoiding specifics, says Workforce senior editor Ed Frauenheim. "More journey, less destination," he says.

Five Elements of a Great HR Department (The Cynical Girl)
Want a good HR department? Forget about "big data" and organizational psychology -- you need these five basics: accountability, fairness, protection for human and civil rights, a steady paycheck and fun. Awesome.

Group Health Benefits Costs to Rise at Slowest Rate in 11 Years (Workforce)
Health care plan cost increases will be between .2 and .6 percent lower in the first half of 2013 than they were in the corresponding period in 2012, a study found. 2013 will also be the first year since 2001 that health care costs were projected to grow at a rate less than 10 percent.

Coffee is for Closers: 3 Ways to Help Your Workers Survive in 2013 (TLNT)

Four Ways Social HR Will Transform Your Company in 2013 (TLNT)
Onboarding will never be the same, and forget about the broken old performance review. Social media is poised to bust these and other HR issues wide open.

HR's Social Networking Troubles (HRE Online)
To say HR is not the business function that's taken most quickly to social media would be an understatement. But HR can make social networking work to their companies' advantages with these tips.

Why You Need to Include Google+ in Your Recruiting Strategy (Fordyce Letter)
Google+ isn't dead. It's got 235 million users, so don't put off learning about the platform as a recruiting tool, says HR specialist Dunya Carter. Because Google is now requiring Google+ registration for many of its services, the social network now has more registered users than LinkedIn.

Why You Shouldn't 'Friend' Your Employees (Mediabistro)
