Time Inc. Spun Off; WaPo Gets 'Reader Representative'

Instead of selling its magazines to Meredith, Time Warner decides to spin off Time Inc. The separate company will not be headed by current CEO Laura Lang, who will step down when the move is complete. "After considerable thought, I have decided that taking the company through a transition to the public markets is not where my passion lies," the former Digitas head said in a memo to staff.
