A list of the New York Post employees offered buyouts is leaking out and one source says of the group, "Loyal soldiers. Highest paid. Have pensions as well." Political editor Tom Topousis and reporter Douglas Montero said yes and have already had their farewell party. In total, the buyouts will claim more than 10 percent of the core news team, which numbers somewhere between 60 and 75. Joe Pompeo at Capital NY writes that the publication "stands to lose a sizable chunk of its longstanding institutional memory," noting other big names who have left in recent months...

The Village Voice lays off Michael Musto, food critic Robert Sietsema and theater critic Michael Feingold. If the era of the VV wasn't officially over, it is now... Is Graydon Carter on the outs at Vanity Fair? Keith Kelly hears that the editor is in the middle of negotiating his contract with Conde Nast CEO Charles Townsend, and things might not be going so well. Potential replacements include New York's Adam Moss, The Hollywood Reporter's Janice Min and British GQ editor Dylan Jones. Carter -- who reportedly is spending less time at the office -- isn't being shown the door yet, but keep an eye out... Patch is restructuring. CEO Jon Brod is stepping down and heading back to AOL Ventures. Taking the top spot is the hyperlocal site's COO Steve Kalin. About three percent of the site's 1,400 staffers will be laid off in an effort to "make Patch profitable in 2013 and... to continue to improve our business model," wrote AOL CEO Tim Armstrong in a memo...

The New York Observer gives Ben Widdicombe a column. "This is just the latest good news for the Observer," the publication's deputy editor Rafi Kohan said of the hire. He will remain editor-in-chief of Gilt City... Washington Examiner columnist David Freddoso leaves his full-time position to move to Boise, Idaho with his wife. He will continue to write a weekly column for the paper and launch a political newsletter... BuzzFeed hires Matthew Zeitlin away from Newsweek/The Daily Beast for the soon-to-launch business vertical. He'll be an economics and finance reporter under section editor Peter Lauria...

Goodby, Silverstein & Partners cuts between 50 and 100 staffers, likely on the lower side. "When we lose business or have cuts in fee, it is important to react thoughtfully, but expeditiously. Companies that don't are not prepared for the future, and they don't serve the people who are still on staff. They endanger present and future jobs," agency co-founder Jeff Goodby wrote in a note... BBDO's New York office says goodbye to a "significant" number of people across all departments... And there are changes at Hearst Magazines, CNN and more...
