The long search for the new editor of The New York Times Magazine could finally be coming to an end. NYT executive editor Jill Abramson planned to announce her decision before the end of 2013 – that obviously didn't happen – but Deborah Needleman and Hugo Lindgren are getting close to making a recommendation. Internal candidates include current deputy editors Joel Lovell and Lauren Kern. Jared Hohlt, the editorial director at New York, is said to be in the running as well. He, of course, currently works under Adam Moss, the man who had a hand in developing the current iteration of the NYT Mag...

The dominos continue to fall at People. The latest: deputy editor Peter Castro is out, leaving after 26 years at the publication. The New York Post hears that he was "furious" when Time Inc. brass handed the top spot at People to Jess Cagle instead of giving it to Castro, who had been a favorite of ousted Martha Nelson... Horacio Silva joins Departures as fashion and style director. He previously worked as online director at T Magazine... ProPublica hires Heather Vogell and Ryan Gabrielson as reporters...

Talking Points Memo loses Hunter Walker. The former New York Observer staffer joins Business Insider as politics editor. Josh Barro, the site's current politics editor, moves to the economic-policy beat. According to an email Walker sent to Politico, he plans "to get some blockbuster scoops and be a major player on the beat as we head into the 2014 election and beyond."... Michael Kuntz heads to Gawker Media to be vice president of sales. He had been publisher and chief revenue officer at Popular Mechanics... TheAtlantic.com promotes three staffers, including Rebecca Rosen. She's now a senior editor and will edit the business channel...

Drama in the art world. Ben Genocchio, who had been editor-in-chief of Blouin Media's ArtInfo.com, poaches seven staffers to start a rival website. Kate Shanley and Wendy Buckley, the publisher and associate publisher of Art+Auction, are two of the staffers jumping ship. The duo is also suing Louise Blouin for back wages and commission. This is going to get ugly... Style.com hires Noah Johnson and Jessica Teves...

WBAI fires interim program director Bob Hennelly. It sounds like his superiors thought he wasn't raising enough money... Casey Stern is the new pre- and post-game host for the New York Mets radio broadcasts on WOR-AM. Howie Rose and Josh Lewin will call the games... Lori Rothman leaves Markets Now for Imus in the Morning. She'll handle the business and news updates... And there are changes at The Washington Times, TheAtlantic.com and more...
