Breitbart News Network is planning a massive international expansion. The company will open offices in Texas, California, Florida, Cairo, Jerusalem and London over the next few months. That means at least a dozen new staffers, likely more. Stephen Bannon, the company's executive chairman, likened the strategy to the one pursued by The Huffington Post. Alexa Internet has Breitbart, which lost founder Andrew Breitbart two years ago, as the 49th largest global news site. The investment should ensure that number gets smaller as the organization expands...

David Leonhardt recruits a host of staffers to help with The New York Times' new data-driven politics site. (Don't call it 538.) Laura Chang, formerly of the Booming blog and international business editor Damon Darlin will help edit. Statistician Josh Katz, the intern who created the much-loved and much-shared dialect quiz, signs on, as does Kevin Quealy, who Leonhardt calls "the creative force behind some of our most successful interactive projects." Two other new staffers are Derek Willis and Darcy Eveleigh, while Brendan Nyhan, Lynn Vavreck and Sendhil Mullainathan join as contributors... The Quad-City Times seeks a new columnist after dropping Brent Bozell, the conservative columnist who had a staffer at the Bozell Media Research Center ghostwrite his pieces... The Wall Street Journal promotes Li Yuan to editor-in-chief of its China edition. She has been managing editor of CWSJ.com for eight years. More changes to come as the publication looks to ramp up its efforts in the far east...

Al Jazeera America taps Joe Berlinger to direct The System, an eight-part series focusing on the criminal justice system. The Paradise Lost filmmaker most recently directed a film about mobster Whitey Bulger that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival... Bob Costas is back where he belongs, anchoring NBC's coverage of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games from Sochi, Russia...

Vice needs a copy editor, preferably someone who can also copy-edit job postings... Sam Nunberg, the Donald Trump aide who OK'd a profile by BuzzFeed's McKay Coppins, tenders his resignation after the brouhaha following the publication of the piece... Square invests in its sales team. The company "is beginning to build a world-class sales team for the SMB and Mid Market marketplace," according to a post on LinkedIn. CFO and head of operations Sarah Friar is heading up the search. Resumes, please... And there are changes at The Wall Street Journal, Taykey and more...
