People Cuts 12; Politico Launches eHealth Vertical

It’s been a rough day at Time Inc. headquarters. Ahead of the company spinning off from Time Warner on Friday, People has cut about 12 staffers — some layoffs, some buyouts — and All You's founding publisher, Diane Oshin, is departing the company. Evelyn Webster, Time Inc.’s executive VP, will assume Oshin’s duties overseeing All You. Kevin White will take over as group publisher of Cooking Light, MyRecipes and Health... Paul Caine joins Bloomberg L.P. as global chief revenue officer. Most recently, he had been CEO of Westwood One and also previously worked as publisher of People, Entertainment Weekly and Teen People at Time Inc... Fortune rehires Bethany McLean as a columnist for the publication's website. She's the co-author of The Smartest Guys in the Room and made her name for the publication during the Enron scandal. McLean will stay on as a contributing editor at Vanity Fair...
Rolling Stone makes
a move into a new genre, launching Rolling Stone Country
. "We're starting Rolling Stone Country out of a deep love for the music," Gus Wenner
, editorial director of the magazine's website, said in a statement. "Country music has always been part of Rolling Stone
's DNA." In a different piece about the site, he explained
it like this: "Now more than ever, music is all mixed up again. Listen to country radio today, and you'll hear heavy-metal guitar solos, hip-hop rhythms and EDM flourishes alongside pedal steel and twang." Beville Dunkerley

Politico launches an eHealth vertical to supplement its Pro offerings. Arthur Allen, formerly of the Washington Post and The New York Times, will lead the site along with David Pittman and Ashley Gold. The publication also signs up former Wall Street Journal intern Daniel Lippman as a researcher/reporter. He'll help Mike Allen produce Playbook and Capital Playbook... Tyler Coates trades Flavorwire for Decider.com, the New York Post's entertainment site. He previously worked at Blackbook and has seen his byline in publications ranging from Capital New York to Good... The Atlantic Wire loses politics editor Elspeth Reeve, who joins First Look Media. She follows Alex Abad Santos, Allie Jones and Philip Bump out the door... Steve Busfield joins ESPN as managing editor of ESPNFC. He had been editor of the Guardian's U.S. sports site... Fusion recruits another digital-savvy staffer, snagging Jorge Urrutia from The Huffington Post. He'll be vice president of digital monetization and had been vice president of operations at HuffPost since February...
Ogilvy & Mather grabs Keith Anderson to be ECD/head of art in its New York office. He worked at AMV BBDO as head of the Blackberry account and also spent two decades in the trenches at Goodby, Silverstein & Partners... Swirl hires Greg Johnson as EVP, director of digital. The San Francisco native previously worked at agencies, including McCann WorldGroup, William Morris Endeavor and Digitas... And there are changes at Bloomberg BusinessWeek, Playboy Enterprises and more...
