Chuck Todd Named Host of Meet the Press; Two New EICs at Yahoo

David Gregory is out at Meet the Press, replaced by Chuck Todd. We knew a move was coming, but many media watchers expected the current host to last until after the midterm elections. Apparently not. "Chuck will ensure that Meet the Press is the beating heart of politics, the place where newsmakers come to make news, where the agenda is set. We have some exciting plans to evolve and update the broadcast under Chuck’s leadership that we will be sharing with you shortly," NBC News president Deborah Turness told staffers in a memo. Todd will remain NBC News political director and starts September 7. Andrea Mitchell will fill in during the interim. Gregory, meanwhile, will leave the NBC family entirely, with rumors swirling that he's headed to CNN...

Adam Moss announces two promotions at New York, handing Jared Hohlt the title of editor, print, and Ben Williams the corresponding role on the digital side. Those are more or less the jobs both men have already been doing, but the editor-in-chief wants to clear up any lingering confusion... Bloomberg promotes Josh Tyrangiel to head of consumer content. The former Bloomberg BusinessWeek editor-in-chief has been on a rapid rise through the company's ranks and now has a job title that matches his job description... Lauren Bans, who recently left GQ and moved to Los Angeles, rejoins the magazine as a correspondent... The New York Times installs Alex MacCallum as assistant managing editor for audience development, moving up from her role as business lead of the Cooking site...

Susan Mercandetti leaves ABC News to start a media consulting company. She had been vice president of business development and will work with the network along with Univision and Fusion in her newest gig... Jill Jackson is promoted to senior producer on Face the Nation. She had been at CBS This Morning since 2013. CBS News hires Trish Turner to replace Jackson. She had been in a similar position with CNN... David Madden joins Fox Broadcasting Co. as entertainment president, while Joe Earley jumps up to chief operating officer. The company also re-signs Emma Watts to a three-year deal with 20th Century Fox Film...

Michele Promaulayko joins Yahoo as editor of the site's health vertical, leaving Women's Health, where she had been editor-in-chief. Meanwhile, Katie Brown Workshop host Katie Brown jumps to the Internet behemoth as editor of Yahoo DIY... Vice News recruits Jason Leopold, the investigative reporter who had been working at Al Jazeera America. "He’s the most enthusiastic high energy investigative reporter I’ve ever met -- that’s intoxicating and he delivers," the site's editor Jason Mojica said... And there are changes at Redbook, KBS and more...
