How To Pitch: ISLANDS
Pitch exotic stories to this "very different type of travel publication"
April 6, 2012
The information in this article is current and accurate.
Frequency: Eight issues per year
Special issues: Resorts (January); Caribbean (November)
Background: Though ISLANDS has a strong literary tradition with an emphasis on great writing and photography, "the magazine is always evolving," said editor Eddy Patricelli. ISLANDS started 30 years ago when David Fritzen, founder of Santa Barbara and ShowBoats, returned from a vacation in Kauai with the idea for a travel publication very different from what he'd seen on magazine racks. The title was later purchased by World Publications, a subsidiary of Bonnier Corporation in Winter Park, FL.
The How to Pitch series is worth its weight in gold. In just the first month I'd already benefited enough to consider the cost of joining well worth it.
