Top CJR Editors Resign to Protest Online Budget Slash
August 11, 2006
It's no secret that Columbia J-School dean Nicholas Lemann
isn't down with online journalism (he said as much a few weeks back in The New Yorker
) but it's still a little surprising that he apparently thinks so little of the medium that he cut the budget of the Columbia Journalism Review
's own Web site in favor of a direct mail campaign for the print magazine (how old-school!) As a result, both Steve Lovelady
, the managing editor of the site, and his deputy Bryan Keefer
have resigned in protest. But, uh, don't count ...
The How to Pitch series is worth its weight in gold. In just the first month I'd already benefited enough to consider the cost of joining well worth it.
