How To Pitch: VegNews

The feature well is wide open at this "vegetarian lifestyle" mag

- October 24, 2012

The information in this article is current and accurate.

Circulation: 70,000
Frequency: Bimonthly
Special issues: Summer (July/August), Food (September/October), Veggie Awards (November/December)

Background: For the past decade, VegNews has provided its readers with green lifestyle content. What was once a freebie newspaper, only available at local health food shops, is now a full-color glossy sold at big chain stores -- and as the pub has gone more mainstream, so has vegan culture. "There is definitely a greater awareness of veganism these days which is really wonderful because there is so much for us to report on," said editorial director Elizabeth Castoria.

With a new tagline, "think, eat, thrive," this veg-friendly title features much more than just recipes. Flip through this bimonthly book and you'll find profiles on vegan newsmakers, city guides for herbivores and product roundups, all printed on 75 percent post-consumer, recycled paper. "We really wanted to have a more comprehensive tagline," said Castoria. "Thinking, eating and thriving covers all the different aspects of lifestyle that we cover in terms of news, travel, reviews and interviews."
