Special Issues: Expanded travel coverage in January/February
Background: Journey's editorial mission is to reflect the lifestyles and tastes of Washington state residents and provide travel coverage from a uniquely Northwestern perspective. As one of AAA's 40 regional magazines across the country, content focuses on subjects one would expect from an auto club membership publication -- safety, technology, insurance and disaster preparedness -- but it's also one of the few mags in the Northwest that covers not only statewide and regional travel, but national and international wanderlust, too.
Using annual AAA surveys and stats from the agency's in-house travel services, editor-in-chief Rob Bhatt and his small band of staffers cull ideas for Journey, which is then split into two even more region-specific versions: Puget Sound Journey, reaching approximately 325,000 readers in that area, including Pierce, Snohomish, Kitsap and King counties, and Western Journey, distributed to some 295,000 AAA members in all other parts of Washington and northern Idaho. Content varies slightly between the two pubs, as do the covers and layouts, but they're more like fraternal twins than your average sister publications.
