There may be no better embodiment of the death throes of the newspaper industry than the Los Angeles Times. When we last left the paper, publisher David Hiller had killed the monthly LA Times Magazine and reanimated it as a completely advertiser-driven glossy -- not all that different than the Financial Times' How To Spend It, really, or The New York Times' T supplements, although they are composed by editorial staff.
