Gannett Papers Test Paywalls; Conde Appoints Digital Leader

In a long Guardian profile, the man who believe print versions of newspapers will disappear within 15 years argues that "on a purely financial calculation, I don't think the numbers will add up." That would be bad news for England's Times Newspapers, which implemented the first phase of their pay wall over the weekend. Three Gannett Papers -- the Tallahassee Democrat, The Greenville (S.C.) News, and The (St. George, Utah) Spectrum -- also launch test phases of charging their audience cash on the Internet...
