AOL lays off several hundred employees in the United States and even more abroad. The total comes to 900 out of 4,000 staffers. Plenty of brands lose their editorial teams including Travel, Health and Stylelist. AdAge argues Tim Armstrong (and presumably Arianna Huffington) cut most from the editorial brands that were underperforming. For example, AOL Daily Finance lost 41 percent of its audience from February 2010 to February 2011. Politics Daily also struggled, and editor-in-chief Melinda Henneberger is out. SVP/GM of news Jonathan Dube wants to find his departing staffers new homes, while the company's CEO did say he will increase the editorial body count by 50 to 75 percent over the next 12 months. One of the biggest winners: Huffington Post CTO Paul Berry lands a huge promotion and will handle the tech content for the new media group. (AOL Tech, which won't be touched, grew 49 percent in 12 months.)...

Lauren Torlone leaves FNC for C-SPAN. She'll serve as a producer for the Washington Journal... JP Dellacamera jumps from ESPN to Fox Soccer Channel. The soccer announcer will call play-by-play for the network's 14 Friday night Major League Soccer telecasts. The Worldwide Leader left him out of the mix for the 2010 World Cup.
