Condé Shakeups; The Observer Ups Online Efforts

September 16, 2011
Big changes are coming to Condé Nast. Brides editor-in-chief Millie Martini Bratten is out after 25 years as editor-in-chief. Anne Fulenwider, formerly the executive editor at Marie Claire, takes over. (Marie Claire also recently lost Abigail Pesta to Tina Brown.) WWD hears Brides publisher Carolyn Kremins will jump to Traveler in the same role, replacing Chris Mitchell, who will continue as publisher at GQ. Lucky publisher Michelle Myers is in the hot seat as well. Finally, Self's Laura McEwen is fighting with EIC Lucy Danziger and could be moving on soon...

Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski will pen a monthly column on career confidence, empowerment and getting ahead in the workplace for Cosmopolitan... Chris Dixon says goodbye to New York for the design director role at Vanity Fair. David Harris steps down but will remain on as a design editor-at-large... Michael Wolff may be on his way out at Adweek, although no one seems to have told the firebrand... Jon Meacham officially joins Time...

Elizabeth Spiers makes another impact hire, recruiting Mediagazer editor Megan McCarthy (@Megan) as news editor. Presumably, the new hire will play a big part in the New York Observer's increased online efforts... Johann Hari takes leave from the Independent after accusations of plagiarism surfaced... Greenspun Media lays off 12 as the recession begins to take hold (again)... The Guardian snags Ana Marie Cox for its United States site and moves Nick Davies to America as well...

Jon Banner scores a promotion at ABC, moving to senior executive producer of division wide initiatives. Michael Corn takes over the ABC World News role Banner held for eight years. (That tenure made him the longest-serving evening news EP.)... Paul Telegdy gets bumped up to president, alternative and late night programming at NBC... Gary Marsh will head Disney Channels Worldwide... Shelley Lewis joins Current TV as executive VP of programming...

Spotify snags former AOL ad sales boss Jeff Levick as chief advertising officer. Out of the frying pan into the nice, comfortable fire... Former Twitter and LinkedIn project manager Josh Elman joins Greylock Partners. Former Linked Iners Adam Nash, D.J. Patil and ex-CEO Reid Hoffman also work there... And there are changes at BeautyBlitz.com, The Financial Times and more...
