In the "should have happened years ago" category: Village Voice Media splits into two separate entities, one that will focus on the newspapers and alt-weeklies, and one that specializes in Backpage.com -- the lucrative, sketchy adult listings business. Current VVM chief revenue officer Scott Tobias will assume the CEO role at Voice Media Group, which will try to make print pay.
